Cav Troop continues 100-year-old tradition At first glance, the peaceful setting of Breckenridge Farm is an unlikely spot for a leadership laboratory. The 20-acre horse farm in Plainfield, Vt., is training ground for the Cavalry Troop, where members of the Corps carry on a 100-year tradition of horsemanship. It's a pursuit that fosters the skills of riding and caring for animals. But cadets also learn about themselves and the intricacies of leading others. Continued at www.norwich.edu... |
Norwich receives $2 million gift from '52 alumnus Norwich University is honored to announce a $2 million gift from A.J. Bartoletto '52, and his wife, Anne. Combined with a previously unannounced commitment of $2.1 million, the Bartolettos have given a total of $4.1 million to the University as part of the Norwich Forever! campaign. "Their gift will touch the lives of hundreds of Norwich students," said President Richard W. Schneider. "This is a fantastic way to kick off the final year of the Norwich Forever! campaign." Research transforms student's views on torture Not long ago, if you had asked Norwich University senior Michael Self whether torture should be used to pry information from terror suspects to prevent another Sept. 11-type event, he would have answered, "Absolutely." Brown '00 captures WEC crown Mike Brown '00 defeated defending World Extreme Cagefighting champ Urijah Faber in a first round knockout on November 5 at the Hard Rock Café in Seminole, Florida. Two days before the bout, the contender for the featherweight title was interviewed by Kevin Iole of Yahoo sports. Five cadets earn Empire-8 All-League laurels Five members of the Norwich University football team were among those honored by the Empire 8 on November 20, 2008, as the league announced its all-conference team. Senior RB Darnell Jackson and junior DL Reza Afsarmanesh led the list of Cadets as each player was named to the league's first team. Senior DL Richard Cumby and junior DB Donovan Brown earned second-team honors, while senior LB Jim Kiritsy was selected to the league's sportsmanship team. Continued at www.norwichathletics.com... |
