Graduates ready themselves for the call of service and leadership At Norwich University's 189th Commencement on May 11, the school's abiding ethic of service to fellows and to country was everywhere in sight, from the choice of a keynote speaker to the symbols cast into each graduate's class ring. Four-star general John Philip Abizaid told the graduates, "You have to decide whether you will be a spectator of life, or whether you will dive in and make a difference." A feature article, slide show of Commencement and ROTC commissioning, and selected excerpts of all the speeches are posted online. Continued at www.norwich.edu...

Norwich founder continues to inspire NU community "It was a long winter, now its spring-let's get moving." Assistant Professor of Biology and Physical Education Elizabeth Wuorinen was referring of course to Norwich's three year old tradition of welcoming spring: the Partridge Walk. Approximately fifty Norwich students, faculty and staff started their pedometers on Wednesday, March 19 and kept them on through Friday, May 2 to see how much of Capt. Alden Partridge's trip from Fort Ticonderoga, Ticonderoga, N.Y. to Northfield they walked. Continued at www.alumni.norwich.edu... |

Annual promotion parade is bittersweet rite of passage On Friday, May 2, the Corps of Cadets stood at attention, preparing to say goodbye to graduating leaders and welcome future ones during the traditional Promotion Parade. President Richard Schneider stressed to the cadets how important tradition, pride and honor are to upholding a strong student body. "To the future leaders, keep the faith of the past," he said. "Next year, it's all about standards. You need to keep them." Continued at www.alumni.norwich.edu... |

Bressor steps down After fourteen years of dedicated service to Norwich University, Associate VP for Development and Alumni Relations Julie Bressor is stepping down. Most recently, Julie oversaw the Alumni, Career Development, Advancement & Gift Services, and Reunion and Individual Giving Offices. A mainstay on numerous volunteer boards and committees, her expertise in the area of alumni and donor relations will be sorely missed. "I treasure my time at Norwich, and the relationships I developed over the years with many remarkable and special people who care so deeply about the University." |
