OLC Tips

NU Online Community Searchable Directory

One of the most useful features of the NU OLC is the Online Directory, allowing any logged in, registered member to look up their friends and fellow alumni by several handy criteria: name, class year, major or SGS program.

Best of all, we don't need to expose anyone's sensitive information. Folks can contact one another directly through the system, without either having to either know someone else's email, or to have their email displayed in order to be contacted.

If we have an email on file for you, an envelope icon is present next to your name, signifying that you can be emailed. Best of all, the most current info we have for you is always connected to that envelope, so whenever we have updates, such as new email addresses, it doesn't have to be updated in multiple places, it will always be automatically the default address available.

BONUS Tip: In order to make a quick complete emailable list, you can compile these folks into your Friends List, which can be emailed all together or sent a "note"  right through the OLC!

Thirty-seven alumni and current players competed in the sixth annual Brendan T. MacDonald '06 Memorial Alumni Lacrosse Game on Sunday, April 26. Bob MacDonald P'06 served as the honorary coach for the victorious Gold team, who prevailed over the Maroon 12-10. After the game, players, fans and family members gathered at the Rustic Sports Bar to celebrate their shared love of lacrosse. Norwich University student Michael ZalewskiNU students gain practical experience through DoD
Like most college students, the thought of an internship where he collated copies and fetched coffee was enough to make Michael Zalewski want to explode -- or at least vent. But thanks to a series of student experience programs sponsored by the Department of Defense, the Norwich senior gained pragmatic engineering experience doing both: exploding and venting.

Norwich urged to recruit, provide for returning military
Incoming college freshmen generally arrive on campus as carefree teenagers fresh from summer vacation. "I was out of the Marine Corps three months at that point and I hit every brick wall possible."

Campaign slogans don't make for good criminal justice
"Lock 'em up and throw away the key" might be an effective campaign slogan, but it's no way to administer justice, according to Donald Williams, a former prison program administrator and 2006 graduate of the master of justice administration (MJA) program at Norwich University. Williams has studied incarceration rates for more than 10 years, going back to when he was an administrator for the U.S. Justice Department's Bureau of Prisons.

Organizational Leadership professor makes the world his classroom
MSOL Professor Matthew Boyne is comfortable communicating with students from almost anywhere - even his jetliner's cockpit. A pilot for American Airlines, Boyne is available to them virtually all hours of the day - except, of course, when he's in the air or sleeping.
