Harris Connect/NU Alumni Directory in Progress - Telephone Phase Continues! Norwich has partnered with Harris Connect to produce the eighth edition of the NU Alumni Directory, scheduled for publication in August 2009. Harris started outbound telephone calls on March 23 to our alumni to confirm directory information for those who had not responded by e-mail or calling Harris toll-free at (800) 546.7524. Harris Connect will review the accuracy of your directory listing and ask for additional information to be included in the directory. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to reserve your copy of the alumni directory. Last day for directory changes is May 18. Cadets take the plunge in support of Special Olympics Each year, hundreds of Vermonters jump into the icy waters of Lake Champlain during a fundraising drive for Special Olympics of Vermont. In February, nearly 80 Norwich cadets stood in freezing temperatures facing biting, 20 mph wind gusts. With a sense of calm and courtesy, bundled-up students helped out with all aspects of the event, from crowd control to escorting "plungers" to the lake. 2009 Colby Award winners announced The harrowing account of the ambush of a Navy Seal team in the mountains of Afghanistan and a sweeping narrative of the modern battlefield as seen through the eyes of a seasoned war reporter in Iraq have won the 2009 Colby Award. 2004 grad coaches hockey team to national championship Dominick Dawes '04, in his debut as the head coach of the Div. III Neumann College Knights, led his team to its first ever NCAA Championship. A member of the Norwich men's ice hockey team that won the NCAAs in 2003, Dawes is only the second person ever to have won a national championship as both a player and a coach. The Knights ended their Cinderella season with nine straight wins, upsetting top-seeded Plattsburgh 5-4 in overtime in the quarterfinals, then defeating Hobart 3-2 in the semis, before skating past Gustavus Adolphus in the finals, 4-1. Women's Ice Hockey makes NCAA debut Earning a berth in the NCAAs in only their second year as a varsity squad, the Cadets faced Elmira College (Elmira, N.Y.) in the quarterfinal round of the eight-team tournament. Freshman Amanda Wilks and sophomore Brittane Michaud each netted a goal for Norwich in the 3-2 loss to the Soaring Eagles. Freshman earns All-America honors Norwich University freshman women's ice hockey player Amanda Wilks was named a second team RBK All-American, the American Hockey Coaches Association. The lanky defenseman from Winnipeg, Manitoba is the first Norwich women's ice hockey player ever to receive All-America honors. Wilks tied for second on the team with 16 goals, and ranked fourth on the club in assists (17) and points (33). Continued at www.norwichathletics.com... |

Hooked on Hockey? Call for NU Hockey artifacts It's time to search your closet, attic, and memory.for artifacts and information about Norwich Hockey! An exhibition, Hooked on Hockey: Milestones of Norwich Hockey, 1909-2009, is currently being planned by the NU Athletic Department and the Sullivan Museum for fall 2009. The exhibition will include stories of NU hockey coaches, players, and fans, along with the three "arenas" where the games were held-Sabine Field, Taylor Arena and Kreitzberg! Architecture students to auction off T-Box in April! Own an original structure designed and built by Norwich students enrolled in the School of Architecture and Art's Design/Build Program!
