NU Shock Platoon Drills Competition into the Ground, Places First Overall
Norwich University Drill TeamOnce again, Norwich University's Shock Platoon took top honors as the best overall drill team at Cornell University's Invitational Drill Competition on Nov. 17. This is their fifth straight year of placing first over 28 teams from 16 other schools. NU's freshman platoon also competed at the meet and placed third overall. 
"I think that in competition they are absolutely professionals," said Director of Bands and Assistant Commandant of Cadets, Maj. Tim Smith, who is also the team supervisor." I was very impressed by their level of performance and difficulty. I ! have no doubt that what I witnessed was on par with the best the nation holds."
NU VISIONS Abroad Celebrates the Past and the Future at First Annual Event

Photo by Jay EricsonNorthfield residents and NU students, staff and faculty filled up Milano Ballroom on Wednesday, Dec. 6 for the NU VISIONS Abroad program's first official soiree to celebrate last year's NU VISIONS Abroad team trip to Pommern, Tanzania and this year's team journeying to Matagalpa, Nicaragua in January.
President Emeritus Russell Todd '50, MG (Ret.) USA, Veterans Day Address

President Emeritus Russell Todd '50, MG (Ret.) USANorwich University observed Veterans Day with a retreat parade featuring an address by President Emeritus Russell Todd, MG (Ret.) United States Army, and a member of the Class of 1950. 

"Today we gather on this parade ground to once more hear the trumpets sound and the cannons roar in honor of those who have given their lives that we may remain free. We also this day proclaim our dedication to this small college whose mission is to produce moral, patriotic and useful citizens."

Book Fund Honors Retired Professor
Colleagues of Professor Emeritus Gene Sessions recently honored him on the occasion of his 70th birthday by setting up a book fund in his name at the Kreitzberg Library. Professor Sessions responded that he was "happy that his birthday could be an occasion to support the library's continued growth." Continued...
