Norwich University Cadets take part in the Special Olympics Penguin PlungeCadets take the plunge in support of Special Olympics
Each year, hundreds of Vermonters jump into the icy waters of Lake Champlain during a fundraising drive for Special Olympics of Vermont. In February, nearly 80 Norwich cadets stood in freezing temperatures facing biting, 20 mph wind gusts. With a sense of calm and courtesy, bundled-up students helped out with all aspects of the event, from crowd control to escorting "plungers" to the lake. "Honestly, it's a cool thing," said Matt Allard, a sophomore history major, as he awaited the start of events.

MJA research strengthens FBI agent's philosophy on law, safety enforcement
According to MJA alumnus Brig Barker M'07, the key to preventing a terrorist attack or apprehending a suspect lies with local law enforcement, not the FBI, intelligence agencies or even the military. "A perfect example is Tim McVeigh," said Barker, a special agent with the FBI and 2007 graduate of the Master of Justice Administration (MJA) program at Norwich University School of Graduate Studies. "A state trooper being observant led to his arrest."
