NORWICH UNIVERSITY AND THE NU CLUB OF SAN ANTONIO GIVE BACK!
Join us as we put our Norwich values into action and spend the morning volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank. This activity is part of Norwich's first ever "National Day of Service" - we will be joining with Norwich Clubs from around the country to make a difference in our local communities. Be there with us to spend the morning with fellow alumni and friends and give back to our great city!
Saturday, November 7, 2009 9:00 am - 12:00 pm San Antonio Food Bank 5200 Old Highway 90 West San Antonio, TX
About the San Antonio Food Bank: The mission of the San Antonio Food Bank is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy. In 2008 the San Antonio Food Bank, in coordination with their network of partner agencies, served over 28 million meals to hungry individuals and families! Nearly one out of every three children and one out of every five adults in Southwest Texas lives in poverty and has difficulty meeting basic nutritional needs. Sixty-five percent of the people requesting emergency food have children. The Food Bank relies on the generosity of donors and volunteers to fulfill their mission and help feed hungry families in our community.
What we will be doing: Our exact project will depend on the day-of needs of the food bank and how many volunteers we have. We will either be working in the warehouse or the garden. Come dressed in work clothes (no open-toed shoes) and ready to make a difference in the lives of thousands of families!
Bring your kids (ages 8 and over) along to teach them about Norwich values and giving back.
Registration Information: RSVPs requested by October 30, 2009 to Dawn Robinson '99 at dawnzer@gmail.com. You may also register online by clicking the "Registration" button above. Please come out, give a couple of hours of your time, and make a difference!
