Sabine Field Renovation

Give now to help renovate Sabine Field!

For almost 90 years, Sabine Field has served as the home of Norwich Football, and the site of many, many memorable games. The most recent was in November 2009, when Norwich was crowned champions of the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference, a first in the program’s long and proud history.

The University’s premier outdoor athletic facility, Sabine is presently utilized by only one Norwich team on a handful of days each fall. And although the grass surface is immaculately maintained, a single Saturday afternoon football game renders it unplayable for at least six days.

The University’s current fundraising effort, Bearing the Torch includes a complete renovation of Sabine Field. The project will cost $5.8 million, and includes the installation of all-weather turf, stadium lighting, new bleachers, and a state-of-the-art press box. It is designed so that lacrosse, soccer, and rugby will also be able to use the field as the schedule permits. Most importantly, the new Sabine Field will allow future generations of Norwich football players to compete in a world-class environment!

Like you, Norwich Football and Sabine Field hold a very special place in our hearts. We are sure you can still picture the Corps of Cadets marching onto the field prior to the game, the colorful mountains surrounding the field in the fall, the explosion of the cannon at kick-off, and the roar of the crowd in the stands when we scored. With your help, tomorrow’s athletes will soon be able to form their own lifelong memories in a beautiful, state-of-the-art complex.

Our goal is to raise $5.8 million in gifts and pledges by December 31, 2012 as construction is to begin in November 2012. As co-chairs of this project, we are asking you to join our team and make this dream a reality.
