2008 Norwich University Volunteer Summit

The Norwich University Alumni Association and the Alumni Office are pleased to announce the third Volunteer Summit for volunteer leaders on May 2-3, 2008.  We kickoff on Friday, May 2 at 1:30 with a welcome reception and conclude on Saturday, May 3, at 4:00 pm with an event at the Sullivan Museum and History Center.  In between there will be informative campus updates, learning opportunities and a chance to meet your staff liaisons and fellow volunteers.

This is a great opportunity to come back to campus and meet other volunteer leaders, NU Alumni Association Board Members, key staff and administrators. During this two-day event you will learn about what’s happening on the front lines at Norwich, gain valuable event planning knowledge from the experts and have the opportunity to visit campus.

Who should attend?

Norwich alumni, friends and parents who serve NU in any of these capacities are encouraged to join us:

          • Class Agent or Volunteer
          • Club Officer or Volunteer
          • SGS Program Volunteer
          • Online Community Volunteer
          • Parent Volunteer

There will be special breakout sessions geared toward each of these groups.  Come meet other volunteers and pick up some great tips!

What does the program include?

Campus 360:

Learn about the most late-breaking and exciting news from campus.  Presentations will be made by President Schneider, the NU Athletics Department, the Office of Volunteer Programs, the Commandant's Office and the School of Graduate Studies.  See the major changes on campus since the last Volunteer Summit, including the Sullivan Museum and History Center and the Wise Campus Center.

Breakout Sessions:

Special sessions will be held for all volunteer groups.  Hear from fellow volunteers about the challenges they face and learn from their best practices.  Work directly with your on-campus staff liaisons to develop your programs and learn how we can support you in your activities.

Specialized learning opportunities will also be hosted in the following categories:

• Becoming an Admissions Ambassador
• Homecoming Planning
• Event Planning 101
• Build Your Online Community Page
• Volunteering 101:  Incorporating Community Service into Your Life and Activities

Receptions:

We are excited to welcome our valued NU volunteers back to campus.  The summit will be a learning and networking opportunity, but we will make sure to have fun in the meantime!  In addition to a Welcome Reception on Friday afternoon we will enjoy dinner with President Schneider in the Faculty/Staff Dining Room of the Wise Campus Center and a Closing Reception at the Sullivan Museum and History Center.
